Unfortunately, many people who suffer from back injuries when picking up heavy objects do so because of their lifting technique. Often times they will have a rounded back when lifting and won’t use the power of their legs.

This puts all of the strain and tension on their lower back, causing injury.

The correct way to lift a heavy object is by ensuring your abdomen is stable, your back is straight and your legs are bent.

If we twist while we’re lifting something heavy, it puts a lot of strain on the discs in our lower back. This is why a common cause of low back disc injuries is from twisting whilst lift
